For the third time in a row, Ghana international Joseph Paintsil was named the Man of the Match in KRC Genk’s victory over Gent over the weekend.
The Black Stars forward registered his 10th goal of the season as Genk defeated Gent on Sunday.
The 25-year-old has been in some red-hot form since the turn of the year as his side continue their lead at the top of the Belgium Jupiler Pro League.
Hyun-Seok Hong scored the opening goal of the match to put the hosts 1-0 up nine minutes after kickoff with a fine goal to send Genk’s supporters into wild jubilation.
Paintsil restored parity for KRC Genk halfway through the opening 45 minutes of the match to make it 1-1 on the 23rd-minute mark.
The first half of the match didn’t have another goal after Paintsil’s goal as it ended 1-1 at the break. Collins Sor on the 67th mark and Toluwalase Arokodare’s 86th-minute strikes gave the visitors a comfortable 3-1 lead with four minutes left on the clock.
Laurent Depoitre scored a few minutes later to make the final score 3-2 as the leaders, Genk walked home with all three points.
The former Tema Youth FC player had played 20 games this season in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League and has nine assists with 10 goals to his name.
Paintsil was then named Genk’s Man of the Match the morning after the game.
