Athletic Bilbao’s Ghanaian forward, Inaki Williams, exuded elation following his remarkable performance in their recent clash against Getafe in the Spanish La Liga.
Scoring twice, Williams underscored the significance of his achievement, particularly to his mother, who he knew would be overjoyed.
His twin strikes secured a decisive 2-0 triumph for Bilbao, fortifying their hold on the fifth spot in the league standings. Notably, both goals were facilitated by none other than Williams’ own brother, Nico, adding a poignant familial dimension to the victory.
In a post-match interview with Bilbao media, Inaki shared his jubilation over the victory, especially given the challenging circumstances of playing with two teammates sidelined due to red cards.
“Today my mother will undoubtedly be beaming with joy. There will be no sibling rivalry in the locker room today. I’m ecstatic about the outcome. Nico and I have an intuitive understanding on the field. Today, he set me up for success, and perhaps in the next game, I’ll return the favor,” he remarked, reflecting on the synergy between him and his brother.
Inaki’s brace against Getafe brings his tally for the 2023-2024 La Liga season to an impressive 11 goals and three assists in 31 appearances. Moreover, his contributions extend to the Copa Del Rey, where he notched two goals and two assists in five matches, instrumental in Bilbao clinching their first Copa Del Rey title in four decades.
