Inaki Williams etched his name into Athletic Bilbao’s history on Sunday, becoming the first player since 2005 to register three assists in a single La Liga match during their 3-2 victory over Las Palmas.
The Ghanaian forward’s playmaking brilliance was pivotal in securing the win, showcasing his influence upon returning from the international break.
Williams opened the floodgates early, assisting Oihan Sancet in the seventh minute with a precise pass that the midfielder calmly slotted home.
Twenty minutes later, he combined with his younger brother, Nico Williams, who curled a spectacular shot past the Las Palmas goalkeeper, doubling Bilbao’s lead.
In the 75th minute, Inaki capped off his stellar performance by setting up Aitor Paredes for Bilbao’s third goal, restoring their two-goal cushion after Las Palmas had briefly threatened a comeback.
The last Bilbao player to accomplish this feat was Fran Yeste, who also notched three assists in a 2005 match against Real Betis.
Inaki Williams’ historic night underscores his growing importance at the club as Athletic Bilbao continues their promising start to the season.
