Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams has scored his first goal of the 2026/27 season as Athletic Bilbao secured an emphatic 4-0 victory over Getafe in La Liga.
The Black Stars captain found the back of the net in a commanding performance by the Basque side, who dominated the encounter to claim all three points and register an impressive victory in front of their supporters.
Williams’ goal marks an important moment in his campaign, ending his wait for a league goal this season. The forward has continued to contribute to Athletic Bilbao’s attacking play, combining his pace, movement and experience to create problems for opposition defenders.
Before finding the net against Getafe, the Ghanaian had already registered two assists, demonstrating his ability to contribute to the team’s attacking output even when he is not scoring.
His latest strike takes his tally for the campaign to one goal and two assists, giving him three direct goal contributions.
The 4-0 result also provides Athletic Bilbao with a convincing performance as they seek to maintain consistency in the Spanish top flight. The team’s attacking display ensured that Getafe left the encounter without a goal, while Williams’ contribution added to the celebrations.
For Ghana, the forward’s return to scoring will be encouraging news, particularly as he remains an important figure for the national team. His ability to produce goals and assists at club level will be vital as he continues to balance his responsibilities with Athletic Bilbao and the Black Stars.
Williams will now look to build on his performance against Getafe and increase his goal contributions as the season progresses.
