Spanish-born Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams found the back of the net once again, but his goal was not enough to prevent Athletic Club from falling to a 2-1 defeat against AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in their UEFA Europa League clash.
The 30-year-old delivered an impressive performance on the right wing, using his pace and dribbling skills to trouble the Roma defense. His efforts were rewarded in the 50th minute, when he opened the scoring, marking his fifth goal in the competition. His display earned him a 7.6 rating on Sofascore.
However, Roma responded swiftly, with Spanish defender Angeliño equalizing just six minutes later. The match seemed destined for a draw until Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov struck in the final moments, securing victory for the Giallorossi.
Williams and his Athletic Club teammates now face a crucial task in the return leg at Estadio San Mamés, where they must score at least two goals to advance to the quarter-finals.
So far in the UEFA Europa League, Inaki Williams has recorded five goals and one assist in nine appearances.
