Black Stars forward Inaki Williams stated his desire to score his first goal for Ghana in an international friendly against Mexico.
Ghana’s senior national team will face Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, October 14, 2023, and the Athletico Bilbao striker aims to find his scoring boots in Black Stars colours.
Since changing nationality from Spain in July 2022, the 29-year-old has played nine matches for the Black Stars without scoring.
In this season’s Spanish La Liga, he has four goals and two assists for club side Athletic Bilbao.
“For us, it is a very important match. All Ghanaian people support us and I am going to do everything to score my first goal,” Inaki told the press ahead of the Mexico clash.
“It is not easy for me because I don’t have a lot of matches with my teammates but this is football. I enjoy the football, I enjoy the games and I am going to do everything to score my first goal.”
Ghana and Mexico will meet for the fourth time in their history. The Black Stars have yet to win in their last three matches.
Inaki, who has played alongside Mexican colleagues at the club level, recognises the difficulty ahead.
“Mexico have very hard people, very hard teammates and this match is not easy for us but Ghana has got very good players and I’m going to enjoy the match.”
