Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, has stated that the Black Galaxies failed to make a real mark in the 2022 CHAN tournament due to inconsistency in selections.
He argues that a number of the players used in the qualification process were not called for the final tournament which affected the team negatively.
Ghana were knocked out in the quarter-finals by Niger.
“We don’t follow consistency but in football, consistency plays a role. Some of the players who we used to qualify the team to Algeria were dropped, so we are not consistent,” he said in an interview as quoted by footballghana.com.
“We don’t have a solid program where we make sure that we follow it through that is the problem, it is not about ranking”
“Ranking can be done because we’ve seen countries ranked outside the world in top 20 coming into a major competition and excel, we see it all the time. So it’s not necessarily about the ranking”
