Asante Kotoko has received a substantial injury boost with the return of midfielder Rashid Nortey, who had been out of action since February due to an injury.
According to a source from Ghana Sports Page, Nortey has recovered and is now available to play for the team again. He began training last Thursday and is expected to feature in the team’s upcoming game.
The former captain of Medeama SC has missed seven games for the team since featuring in Kotoko’s draw against Nsoatreman. Since joining the Porcupines in January, the 27-year-old midfielder has scored one goal in just five appearances.
Despite managerial changes that saw youth coach Abdul Gazale take over following the sacking of Seydou Zerbo, Nortey will be aiming to reclaim his spot in the team.
Asante Kotoko, who sit fifth with 39 points after 25 matches, have not given up on their title chase, trailing behind leaders Aduana Stars by five points.
