Inter Milan chairman Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that the club has ended its pursuit of Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman after their €45 million bid was rejected.
Marotta explained that Inter had reached a personal agreement with the Nigerian international over a five-year contract, but Atalanta refused to sanction the deal, insisting on their €50 million valuation.
“There was talk of Lookman, but we found a club that had every right not to put him on the market—and rightly so,” Marotta told TMW.
Inter’s proposal fell short of Atalanta’s demands, and with no compromise in sight, the Nerazzurri have now turned their attention to alternative transfer targets.
Lookman, who has been a standout performer for Atalanta in Serie A and European competitions, remains central to the club’s plans for the new season.
