Asante Kotoko fell 2-1 to Legon Cities, the team sitting at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League table.
The defeat marked Kotoko’s first loss of the season and Legon Cities’ maiden victory in eight games, shaking up the early standings and sparking questions about Kotoko’s form under head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
At the post-match press conference, Ogum faced tough questions about how his team had succumbed to Legon Cities, a team that had yet to find its rhythm this season. When asked specifically about the challenge of losing to the league’s lowest-ranked side, Ogum offered a philosophical perspective.
“It happens all over the world. He who is down fears no fall. It was an exciting game, a game of two halves,” Ogum remarked.
Ogum went on to describe the loss as an “exciting game of two halves,” pointing out that while his side improved significantly in the second half, they couldn’t overcome the lead Legon Cities had gained. “It is not the best way to lose, especially if you look at the way we played in the second half; it shouldn’t have happened, but then it has.”
Legon Cities had opened the scoring early, setting the tone for a tense match. Kotoko leveled in the 76th minute, but a stoppage-time goal from Abdul Rahman sealed the victory for Legon Cities, sending their fans into a frenzy at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
