UK-based Ghanaian forward Eddie Nketiah says he is delighted after being given the opportunity to captain Arsenal during their game against AS Monaco.
The attacker wore the armband against the Ligue 1 side during the Gunner’s pre-season fixture on Wednesday night as they played out a pulsating 1-1 draw.
The game also saw the player end up on the scoresheet in what was an entertaining game as the new season approaches.
Speaking after the game, Nketiah expressed his excitement with the role he was given by Mikel Arteta.
“It was an amazing experience. Obviously, it was my first time, so I’m grateful to the coach for trusting me, and my teammates,” he said.
“It was really a special moment for me to lead the team out in front of my family, my friends and also our wonderful supporters.”
Nketiah will be hoping for minutes when Arsenal face Manchester City over the weekend in the Community Shield.
