Ghanaian international midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana could be heading back to his former club Atalanta BC after Serie A giants showed strong interest ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Talks between Atalanta and Cagliari are progressing positively towards a transfer agreement that could see the promising 21-year-old return to Bergamo.
Sulemana impressed in his debut season with Cagliari following their promotion to Serie A, solidifying himself as a key player with 16 starts and two goals under the management of Claudio Ranieri.
His consistent performances also earned him a maiden call-up to the Black Stars squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where he debuted off the bench in Ghana’s victory over Central African Republic.
A return to Atalanta would mark a homecoming for Sulemana, who began his Italian career with the Bergamo club before stints at Verona and Cagliari.
He made his Ghana debut in the 2-1 win over Mali in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in May. With Atalanta’s interest rekindled, Sulemana could be set to make a triumphant return to his first Italian club.
