Augsburg’s center-back, Patric Pfeiffer, has officially changed his national allegiance from Germany to Ghana, expressing his readiness to represent the Black Stars.
The 24-year-old’s decision, which was announced two years ago by the Ghana Football Association alongside four other players, faced delays that hindered his eligibility for selection.
Despite the initial setbacks, Pfeiffer has now completed all necessary procedures, clearing the path for him to play for Ghana at the senior level. Speaking from Augsburg’s pre-season camp in Mpumalanga, South Africa, Pfeiffer shared his optimism about potentially receiving a call-up in September.
“A few weeks ago I was in Ghana and now I have my passport,” the Germany youth international said, as quoted by IdiskiTimes.
“I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played].
“I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before but I didn’t have my passport, but now it’s done and I’m ready.”
“Yes, of course, because this is my motherland, I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food,” Pfeiffer affirmed.
Despite being born and raised in Germany, Pfeiffer emphasized his strong Ghanaian roots, expressing his love for the country, its people, the culture, and the food.
