Scoring his inaugural goal for Manchester United in a thrilling 4-2 victory over Newport County in the FA Cup was a moment of pure euphoria for 18-year-old English-Ghanaian midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Reflecting on the achievement, he conveyed his joy to MUTV, expressing, “It is a big point in my career. To score my first goal, I have been dreaming of this moment for a long time. So it has been amazing.”

Mainoo, pivotal in securing United’s advancement to the fifth round, underscored the broader significance of the win. He noted, “At this point in the season, every cup win is important because it is the next step to the final goal, which is winning a trophy.”

Responding to a query about the team’s mindset when Newport County equalized after trailing by two goals, Mainoo offered insights into their approach, saying, “Back to basics. We have great players who can create goals at any time, so when we go 2-2, it is never really a panic. It’s just getting back to the things we are good at. It’s 0-0 again, so we can always score more.”

Mainoo’s maiden goal for the prestigious club represents a noteworthy milestone in his burgeoning career. His determination to continue leaving an imprint for Manchester United was palpable, evident in his stellar performance during the FA Cup clash. This showcased not only his potential but also his unwavering commitment to aiding the team’s pursuit of success throughout the season.
