Jeremy Doku: Rennes Manager Bruno Genesio makes crucial admission on £50m Manchester City target

Bruno Genesio – manager of Stade Rennais – has admitted that some offers may be difficult for his club to refuse for Manchester City Summer  target Jeremy Doku.

The Premier League champions hold an active interest in signing the 21-year-old this summer, and it is widely expected that the English giants could table an opening offer for the player this week.

A first proposal may come after an already significant development for the player, after it was claimed last week that Premier League Champions and Jeremy Doku had reached an agreement on personal terms.

While there will undoubtedly be a keen feeling towards retaining the Belgian at Stade Rennais this summer, the manager at the French club has admitted this week that some offers may be “difficult to refuse” when it comes to his highly-rated attacking talent.

Speaking after Stade Rennais’ 5-1 home victory over FC Metz in Ligue 1 action on Sunday evening, manager Bruno Genesio was unsurprisingly quizzed on the future of Jeremy Doku, after the Belgian international contributed on the scoresheet.

As quoted by French outlet RMC Sport, Genesio admitted on the subject of Jeremy Doku’s future, “It all depends on the offer we are talking about. There are offers that are difficult to refuse; whether (that is) for players, a coach, or other people in football.”

When pressed for further information on the future of his in-demand forward, Genesio remained somewhat muted, “For the moment, we are not there. I have no information on what I read or hear.

“He (Jeremy Doku) is a Stade Rennais player, he showed it tonight (against FC Metz). Until proven otherwise, he is usable.”

Manchester City are in the market for a wide forward following the sanctioned exit of iconic Premier League superstar Riyad Mahrez, who brought an end to his five-year stay at the Etihad Stadium.

Joining Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli last month, Mahrez’s exit has brought Manchester transfer bosses back into the market, whilst they also seek a new recruit in central midfield – a plan that has further intensified following the injury sustained by Kevin De Bruyne last week.

Any deal for Jeremy Doku is likely to be accompanied by a further arrival at the club, as Txiki Begiristain and his colleagues continue their pursuit of West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta – who is expected to fetch a transfer fee north of £80 million.
