England-born Ghanaian promising forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, has earned a spot in the English EFL Championship Team of the Week following his explosive performance and scoring twice in Sheffield United victory over the weekend.
With a WhoScored.com rating of 9.21, Rak-Sakyi is the Championship Player of the Week. The 22-year-old scored his first and second league goals of the season from five shots against Luton Town, while he was a menace both on and off the ball having completed four dribbles and made four tackles in the win over the Hatters.
Rak-Sakyi opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the match, expertly converting a lobbed pass from Anel Ahmedhodzic to give Sheffield United the lead. The young forward continued his fine form in the second half, finding the net again in the 52nd minute with a low shot that slipped through Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski’s legs.
Despite some late pressure from Luton Town, the Blades held on for the 2-0 win, with Rak-Sakyi’s brace proving decisive. The attacker was substituted in the 66th minute, having already made his mark on the game.
Having joined Sheffield United in the summer transfer window to gain more playing time, Rak-Sakyi has quickly made an impact. Although he struggled to break into Crystal Palace’s first team, his standout performances on loan at Charlton Athletic earned him their Player of the Year award and boosted his reputation as a rising star in English football.
With two goals in seven Championship appearances so far, Rak-Sakyi is determined to leave a lasting impression at Sheffield United this season.
