Gor Mahia’s head coach Jonathan McKinstry has been identified by the Gambian Football Association to be the next head coach of the Scorpions.
Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet parted ways with the Gambia national after the 2023 AFCON. It is four good months now that the Scorpions’ head coach role has been vacant.
The 38-year-old Northern Irish tactician has immense experience in African football after having managed Liberia ( 2013-14), Rwanda (2015-16) and Uganda (2019-2021). Jonathan McKinstry is currently the head coach of Kenyan side Gor Mahia.
Reports say Johnathan McKinstry will be unveiled as the new head coach of the Gambia National Team next week ahead of the Scorpions’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers fixtures against Seychelles at home and Gabon away. The Scorpions have lost their first two games in the qualifiers. They were beaten by Burundi and Ivory Coast.
The young manager is expected to help the Gambia to rediscover their lost form.
