The Crystal Palace forward has finally equalled the number of goals scored by his father for the Black Stars with a brilliant strike against Japan on Friday 10th June, 2022.
Ghana striker Jordan Ayew scored the only consolation goal for Black Stars on Friday in their 4-1 defeat to Japan in the semifinals of the 2022 Kirin Cup.
The 31-year-old was handed a starting place in attack alongside brother Andre Ayew who captained the team.
The Crystal Palace attacker latched onto a pass from Christopher Antwi Agyei and superbly sent in a shot to pull parity for Ghana.
The goal meant that Mo. Ayew has registered his first goal for Ghana in 2022 and only his second goal on international duties since 2020.
He has now taken his tally to 19 goals since making his debut for Ghana in 2010.
The striker is now on the same number of goals with his father – Abedi Ayew Pele – who also netted 19 goals after 73 games for Ghana before finally going on retirement.
Meanwhile, Ayew’s senior brother Andre Ayew has scored 25 times for Ghana in 106 appearances.
