Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has opened up about the challenges of playing alongside Leicester City teammate Fatawu Issahaku, particularly regarding his attempts at long-range goals.
Issahaku stole the spotlight over the weekend, scoring an extraordinary 65-yard strike to help Leicester City secure a 3-1 win over Ipswich Town at the King Power Stadium. The goal came after Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s early 30-yard opener and was followed by Ayew’s own strike in the early stages of the second half, before Jens Cajuste pulled one back for Ipswich.
Reflecting on the goal, Ayew revealed that Issahaku’s long-range attempts have often frustrated his teammates.
“He’s been trying it for years. We always scream at him! Today, he was rewarded. Fair play to him for keeping on trying. Sometimes we get upset with him,” Ayew said.
The win lifts Leicester City to eighth in the Championship, just three points off the play-off spots, while highlighting Issahaku’s growing importance in the squad. The Black Stars attacker has contributed 10 goals and assists this season, scoring four times and providing six assists.
