Ghanaian skipper Jordan Ayew made an immediate impact for Leicester City, netting the decisive goal in their 2-1 victory over Belgian outfit OH Leuven in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
The match, held at the Leicester City training ground, was part of the Foxes’ preparations for the upcoming English Championship campaign following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
Leicester took an early lead just seconds into the game, courtesy of an own goal by OH Leuven defender Takahero Akimoto. The Belgian side, however, responded strongly and drew level in the 51st minute through a strike from Jovan Mijatovic.
With the match looking destined for a draw, Jordan Ayew stepped up late in the game to deliver the winner. The 32-year-old forward connected brilliantly with a corner kick, sending a clinical finish into the net to seal the win for the Foxes.
Ayew, who recently joined Leicester City from Crystal Palace, is expected to play a vital role as the club aims to secure a swift return to the Premier League. His performance in the friendly has already given fans a glimpse of what he brings to the squad.
Leicester City will continue their pre-season campaign with more friendly matches as they build form and cohesion ahead of the 2025/26 season.
