Ghanaian international Joseph Aidoo made his competitive comeback over the weekend, featuring in Celta Vigo’s 3-1 win against Real Valladolid in La Liga.
Aidoo, who had been sidelined for 257 days due to a serious knee injury, came on as a late substitute in the 89th minute, replacing Javi Rodriguez.
This marked the 28-year-old defender’s first appearance of the season, having been an unused substitute in Celta Vigo’s previous matches.
Aidoo had been out of action since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for the Black Stars in a friendly against Mexico in October 2023.
The injury not only cut short his international campaign but also ruled him out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and the remainder of the 2023/24 club season.
Having worked his way back to fitness, Aidoo rejoined Celta Vigo for pre-season training this summer and will now aim to regain his form and earn more minutes. His return offers hope of a possible recall to the Black Stars, as Ghana prepares for upcoming international competitions.
