In the final stages of negotiations, Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise LA Galaxy is on the verge of securing a deal to acquire Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil from Belgian club KRC Genk.
The potential transfer involves a fee of approximately $9 million. Paintsil, recognized for his goal-scoring abilities, has risen to prominence with Genk over the past 18 months, delivering standout performances.
On Tuesday, February 13, Paintsil cleared out his locker but remained present at KRC Genk’s Wednesday training session. He took the time afterwards to interact with fans, signing autographs and posing for photos with the predominantly young supporters who showed up. The Ghanaian admitted that his move to LA Galaxy is almost finalized and that he will likely travel to Los Angeles on Thursday.
In his latest photos wearing Genk gear, he sported the hat of his teammate Mark McKenzie, explaining, “Because I already took all my stuff home,” with a smile.
During the previous season, Paintsil showcased his talent with 17 goals and 14 assists in 36 Belgian Pro League appearances.
With the ability to play on either flank, the 26-year-old has attracted attention for his significant contributions, making him a highly sought-after addition for LA Galaxy.
Once the deal is finalized, Paintsil will join the Galaxy’s roster, bringing his attacking prowess to Major League Soccer.
