Joseph Paintsil, the Black Stars winger, provided an assist in Genk’s 2-0 victory over Union St.Gilloise in the Belgian top flight on Saturday afternoon.
Before the match, the head-to-head record favored Union St.Gilloise with four wins, while Genk had two wins and two draws.
Joseph Paintsil was part of the starting lineup at the Stade Joseph Mariën and played for 58 minutes.
Despite their less dominant possession, the home side missed scoring opportunities in the 5th and 11th minutes.
Andi Zeqiri’s left-footed shot from very close range to the center of the goal gave KRC Genk the lead in the 17th minute. Joseph Paintsil provided the assist for Andi Zeqiri’s goal.
Just before halftime, Christian Burgess missed a header from the center of the box to the right, despite the home side creating more chances.
In added time, Matías Galarza secured the win for Genk with a header from very close range to the top left corner, assisted by Tolu Arokodare. The goal was awarded following a VAR review.
