Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has resumed training and is on track to be considered for selection by Genk in their upcoming match against Union Saint Gilloise in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League this Saturday.
The 25-year-old had to withdraw from the Black Stars squad during the international break due to an injury. He sustained a minor knock during training in preparation for Ghana’s game against the Central African Republic in Kumasi on September 7, which necessitated his return to his club for further assessment.
Genk will be pleased to have their speedy winger back in action, as he recently shared a picture of himself during training on his social media profile.
Genk is scheduled to face Union Saint Gilloise on Saturday and is hopeful that Paintsil’s return will help boost their performance after a sluggish start to the season.
During the summer transfer window, Paintsil came close to leaving Genk, engaging in talks with Leeds United, Southampton, and Burnley. Despite the interest from these clubs, he remains a key player at Genk, having made a significant contribution last season with 30 goals and assists combined.
