Asante Kotoko is set to name midfielder/defender Justice Blay as their new captain.
This decision emerged after the skipper for the side, Richmond Lamptey, left the club to join the Rwandan side, Armée Patriotique Rwandaise (APR) FC, on a two-year deal.
Ahead of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign, Blay is set to take up the mantle as the new captain for the side.
Blay has been a livewire for the Porcupine Warriors since he joined the side from Medeama SC two years ago.
Asante Kotoko is preparing for the maiden Democracy Cup against their rivals, Hearts of Oak, on Wednesday, July 17, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off scheduled at 18:00 GMT.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko, who are aiming to put up an improved performance ahead of the new season, has signed Esmat Abdulhamid Mohamed, Ndongani Samba Gilbani Oneil, AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub, and Emmanuel Antwi.
