Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has singled out Kai Havertz as the most underrated player at the club, applauding the German’s tireless work ethic and vital role in the team’s setup.
In an interview with Footy Culture, the Ghana international highlighted Havertz’s often-overlooked contributions. “Kai Havertz. I think he works so hard and people don’t see it,” Partey said when asked to name the club’s most underappreciated player.
Havertz joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £65 million—a transfer that initially raised eyebrows among supporters. Despite the criticism, manager Mikel Arteta and then-sporting director Edu Gaspar remained confident in his abilities.
Following a difficult start to life at the Emirates, Havertz found his form in early 2024, becoming a central figure in Arsenal’s midfield and attack. His intelligent link-up play, chance creation, and defensive contributions helped solidify his place as a key component in Arteta’s system.
However, his recent spell on the sidelines has been felt by the team. Arsenal’s form has dipped in his absence, culminating in their elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain and ending the season without a trophy.
