Karela United’s head coach, Ibrahim Tanko Shaibu, expressed his disappointment at his team’s missed scoring opportunities in their 1-1 draw against Hearts of Oak during match week 9 of the Ghana Premier League.
Karela took an early lead with Emmanuel Owusu Boakye scoring in just 6 minutes, but Hearts of Oak equalized through Hamza Issah in the 40th minute.
Despite having several chances in the second half, the Pride and Passion lads couldn’t extend their lead.
In a crucial moment, they were awarded a penalty with less than 10 minutes to go in the game, but Richmond Ayi saved Solomon Adomako Wiredu’s spot kick, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Shaibu expressed his frustration after the match, stating, “Everything went well except that we did not take our chances. Imagine getting a penalty at the 37th minute, 8 minutes to go, and the player wastes it. So, what else can I do? I’ll keep talking to them, trying to motivate them for the next challenge.”
The draw leaves Karela in the 14th position on the league standings with 9 points. Their next match will be an away game against Accra Lions.
