Karela United is leaning towards utilizing the Koforidua Sports Complex as their alternative venue for the upcoming BetPawa Ghana Premier League campaign, in case the ongoing projects at Crosby Awuah Memorial Park and Axim Sports Complex are not completed on schedule.
The Club Licensing Board has already turned down the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park and the newly constructed Axim Sports Complex, which is currently 90% completed and has been developed at a cost of $5 million USD.
The Axim Sports Complex, a project initiated four years ago, is expected to reach completion soon and will subsequently be handed over to the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, while plans are underway for the renovation of the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park.
As part of the government’s efforts to develop 10 multi-purpose sports centers, the Koforidua Sports Complex is one such facility currently under construction.
The Karela United team, known as the Passioners, is gearing up to commence pre-season training at the Winneba Sports College in the upcoming week, in preparation for the 2023-24 season set to kick off from September 15-18, 2023.
In their season opener, the Pride and Passions side is scheduled to face Legon Cities at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.
