Philip Flamini, a winger for Aiyinase-based Karela FC, has been remanded by the Ellembelle District Court in the Western Region on charges of defilement.
The incident allegedly occurred on Saturday, April 29, when the 24-year-old Ghana Premier League player reportedly defiled a 13-year-old girl at the team’s club house in Edwakpole, a suburb of Aiyinase in the Ellembelle District.
The Ellembelle District Social Welfare Officer, Jonas Kabutey, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect was arrested after the father of the victim reported the case to the police station.
Flamini appeared before the Ellembelle District Court on Tuesday, May 2, where he admitted to defiling the young girl, claiming that she lured him into committing the act.
He has been remanded for a week and is expected to reappear in court. The victim is receiving counseling to help overcome the trauma, according to Mr. Kabutey, who is also the Paralegal of Western Region.
