Former Asante Kotoko center-back Maxwell Agyemang has completed a transfer to Karela United in the ongoing transfer window.
Maxwell Agyemang, who joined Asante Kotoko at the start of the 2021/22 season from Division One side Wamanfo Mighty Royals, was the team’s second signing under Prosper Ogum’s management, which eventually led to their successful season.
However, Agyemang faced challenges in terms of injuries and playing time. Despite his promising performance in the Division One League, he struggled to replicate those numbers with Asante Kotoko, featuring in just 22 games over two seasons compared to the 26 games and three goals he managed with Wamanfo Mighty Royals.
Karela United has recognized his potential as a valuable addition to strengthen their defense in the upcoming season. Agyemang has signed a two-year contract with Karela United after a successful medical examination.
Karela United aims to bounce back in the upcoming Ghana Premier League season, which begins on September 1. Despite finishing fourth two seasons ago, they slipped to eighth place in the previous season’s standings. Karela United will start their season with an away match against Legon Cities.
