Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito is urging his players to take personal responsibility for their motivation as the club prepares for its outstanding week-three fixture against Basake Holy Stars on Wednesday.
He reminded the squad that every player joined the Porcupine Warriors with a clear purpose — not just to wear the iconic red jersey, but to perform well and build a stronger football career. While he acknowledged that it is his duty to inspire the team, he stressed that genuine drive must also come from within each player.
Zito explained that players must learn to manage themselves properly, especially when it comes to rest and recovery, noting that Kotoko’s recent games have demanded high energy levels. He added that every opponent plays with extra determination when facing Kotoko, making it essential for his players to stay mentally and physically ready for every challenge.
He also pointed out that he receives both praise and criticism in his role as head coach, but remains focused and resilient, encouraging his players to adopt the same mindset.
Kotoko head into the midweek clash unbeaten in 10 matches — the only team yet to lose this season — and will be hoping to extend their impressive run
