Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has declined to comment on the future of defender Samba O’Neil amid uncertainty over his contract situation.

The Congolese international, who joined the Porcupine Warriors in 2024, has become a key figure in the team and currently serves as club captain. However, his contract is set to expire at the end of the 2025/26 season, with reports indicating he has turned down an extension.

Sources suggest clubs from South Africa and Tanzania are monitoring the defender and are ready to offer him a lucrative deal.

When asked about O’Neil’s future, Karim Zito refused to be drawn into speculation.
“Nobody knows what is going to happen tomorrow, so let’s put it aside,” he told Graphic Sports.

Despite the uncertainty, Samba O’Neil has enjoyed an impressive campaign, scoring three goals in 19 appearances this season. He is expected to captain Kotoko when they take on Aduana FC in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
