Dreams FC coach Karim Zito has announced that forward Joseph Esso will not be available for their upcoming match against Hearts of Oak in matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Still Believe lads are set to host Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, but Esso, who recently rejoined the club for a second stint, will not be part of the squad for the fixture.
Esso, who returned to Dreams FC after his spell with MC Alger in Algeria, has been deemed unfit to feature in the game by coach Zito.
Expressing his thoughts on Esso’s return to the club, Zito expressed optimism about the player’s addition to the squad but emphasized that Esso’s readiness to play does not meet the required standards for the upcoming match against Hearts of Oak.
“Truth be told; I’m very happy we’ve able to sign another experience player. Esso and John Antwi will enhance the squad”
While acknowledging Esso’s training with the team, Zito noted that upon careful assessment, it was determined that the player’s current readiness falls below expectations, prompting the decision to exclude him from the matchday squad.
“He trained with us on Tuesday, and after a careful assessment, I realize he is not ready to play against Hearts of Oak. His readiness fell below my expectations so I will not include him” he added.
Esso, who previously scored 11 goals during his first stint with Dreams FC in the 2020/2021 season, is expected to continue training with the team as he works towards full match fitness.
