FC AshantiGold 04 head coach Karim Zito has expressed satisfaction with his side’s 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko, acknowledging the competitive nature of the encounter while praising the opposing goalkeeper for making crucial saves.
Zito believes his players created enough opportunities to secure a better result but were unable to convert their chances, largely due to the impressive performance of Kotoko’s goalkeeper.
The coach also felt the match was evenly contested, with both sides enjoying periods of dominance and creating opportunities to score. He noted that the balance of play across the two halves was reflected in the final scoreline.
“We had a lot of opportunities, but their goalkeeper was at his best. In the first half we took it, and in the second half we shared it. We created opportunities, and they also had their opportunities. At the end of the day, the 1-1 signifies what happened. At the end of the day, I’m very happy we didn’t lose,” Zito said.
The result means AshantiGold 04 avoided defeat against one of Ghana’s most established clubs, with Zito taking encouragement from his side’s ability to compete throughout the contest.
Despite the missed opportunities, the coach will be hoping his players can improve their finishing in subsequent matches and turn similar performances into victories as they continue their campaign.
