David Oppong Afrane’s highly-anticipated move from King Faisal to Hearts of Oak fell through last night as both clubs failed to reach an agreement on the transfer deadline day.
Ever since the current transfer window opened, the versatile defender had been strongly linked with a move to the Phobians, owing to his impressive performance with King Faisal FC last season.
Furthermore, he played a crucial role in the Black Meteors squad during the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers and the main tournament, which took place in Morocco several months ago.
Reports suggest that Hearts of Oak had already come to terms with the player on personal arrangements. However, their dual offers of $12,000 and $20,000 were both rejected, ultimately leading to the deal’s failure to materialize.
Despite this setback, Hearts of Oak’s preseason preparations are in full swing at Koforidua. They have showcased readiness, strong performances, and positive results, with the aim of building a formidable team for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
