Bechem United winger Augustine Okrah says he refused to join the Black Stars for the 2022 Kirin Cup in Japan due to his ill health contrary to reports that suggested he did to show his anger over his non-selection for the Central Africa Republic (CAR) AFCON qualifier.
Okrah and Hearts of Oak forward Afriyie Barnieh failed to make the trip to Angola for Ghana’s second match of the 2023 AFCON qualification series against the CAR.
“I was not feeling well after our game against Aduana Stars. I received a call from Kingsley Osei Bonsu telling me to join the Black Stars camp but I told him I don’t feel well.” Okrah explained to Pure FM.
“I didn’t want to go and disgrace myself since I’m not fit. I refused because of a health issue – Okrah” the Bechem United attacker added.
