Kofi Adams and Asamoah Gyan have held discussions aimed at improving grassroots football development across Ghana, as the government steps up efforts to build a strong foundation for the future of the game.
Kofi Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, met former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan in Accra to explore ways of identifying and nurturing young football talent at the community level. The talks focused on long-term plans to strengthen football from the base and create a steady pathway to the national teams.
Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, attended the meeting with his elder brother Baffour Gyan and his manager, Samuel Anim Addo. The meeting was described as a strategic engagement to tap into the experience of former players who have competed at the highest level of the sport.
Kofi Adams emphasized the value of Gyan’s vast experience in football and his influence beyond the pitch. He noted that the former striker’s contribution to youth development and community initiatives could play a key role in shaping Ghana’s grassroots football structure.
The Sports Minister also expressed confidence in Gyan’s continued impact on national football, stressing that his passion for youth empowerment and sports development remains strong even after retirement.
Asamoah Gyan scored 51 goals for Ghana and is widely regarded as one of the most influential footballers in the country’s history. The meeting signals a renewed commitment by the Sports Ministry to work closely with football legends in building a sustainable future for Ghana football, starting from the grassroots.
