Asante Kotoko were eliminated from the MTN FA Cup at the Round of 64 by King Faisal FC during the Kumasi derby on Wednesday.
Kotoko can see another trophy-less season if they do not win the ongoing Ghana Premier League. Hearts of Oak won the double last season.
Baba Yahaya’s solitary effort was enough for King Faisal to record their second victory over the Porcupine Warriors this season.
The elimination means Kotoko have to win the Ghana Premier League at all cost in order to avoid another trophy-less season under the Nana Yaw Amponsah era and also if they want to be play in Africa in the 2022/23 season.
The winner of the Cup competition wins the berth to participate in the CAF Confederation Cup whilst the league winners go to the CAF Champions League.
