Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has made it clear that striker Albert Amoah is not assured a starting spot in the team.
The 25-year-old forward, who recently returned to Kotoko on a loan deal from Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi until the end of the season, made an immediate impact by scoring in the club’s 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium over the weekend.
Despite his impressive performance, Zito stressed that Amoah would need to continue proving himself in training to secure a place in the starting XI.
“I cannot say Albert will get an automatic place. Training will decide everything. That is why we train,” Zito said.
He added: “It’s about understanding and combinations on the pitch. The players you pair together who deliver results are the ones who earn their spots. Performance and teamwork will guide our decisions.”
Amoah will look to maintain his goalscoring form when Kotoko travel to Kpando to face Heart of Lions in their Week 21 Ghana Premier League fixture at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
