Former Asante Kotoko striker Kwadwo Poku, popularly known as ‘Mahala,’ has delivered a stark message to the current Kotoko squad, insisting that the players take full responsibility and perform in the upcoming Super Clash against Hearts of Oak.
Poku’s criticism comes amid mounting pressure on the Porcupine Warriors following inconsistent performances and the recent resignation of head coach Karim Zito. He believes the focus must now rest squarely on the players, urging them to rise to the occasion and restore the club’s pride on the pitch.
Highlighting Kotoko’s recent lack of dominance, Poku lamented that the team no longer intimidates opponents as it once did. He stressed that Sunday’s clash is a chance for the squad to prove their worth and warned of consequences if they fail to deliver.
“Coach Zito is out. Focus should now be on the players. They must deliver at all costs. It’s funny; Kotoko doesn’t intimidate any club lately. If they fail to deliver on Sunday, they should be detained at the stadium to learn a lesson,” Poku stated.
The eagerly awaited showdown is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 GMT, with fans and pundits watching closely to see if Kotoko can respond to the former striker’s call for accountability and intensity.
