Asante Kotoko defender Lord Amoah has successfully undergone surgery after suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, ending his season prematurely.
The right-back, who joined the Porcupine Warriors from Berekum Chelsea, has been sidelined since March after picking up the injury during a Ghana Premier League Matchday 23 clash against Young Apostles. Despite his early exit, Kotoko went on to secure a 2-0 away win in that fixture.
Following the procedure, the club confirmed that the operation was successful and that Amoah will now begin an intensive rehabilitation programme under the guidance of the team’s medical staff.
“Lord Amoah has undergone a successful surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, an injury he sustained during our Premier League match against Young Apostles. The right-back will now begin his recovery and rehab at the club with support from our medical staff,” Kotoko announced.
The setback is a major blow for both player and club, as Amoah had established himself as one of Kotoko’s most dependable performers this season. His impressive form even sparked conversations about a potential Black Stars call-up before the injury halted his progress.
Since joining the Kumasi-based side in the summer of 2024, Amoah has grown into a key figure in the squad. He made 23 appearances across all competitions this season and remarkably contributed nine goals—an outstanding return for a defender.
