Tunisian top-flight club Club Africain has announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Shawkan Hunalf Mohammed during the ongoing transfer window.
The 21-year-old joins the Red and White on a three-year contract, arriving on a free transfer after departing Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions.
Shawkan Mohammed, who was previously linked with a move to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko following the 2023–24 season, completed his transfer to the Tunisian outfit after successfully passing a medical examination earlier this week.
The former Accra Lions captain had turned down a two-year contract extension from his former club, which included an offer from a club in Malaysia, opting instead to take his talents to North Africa.
Mohammed joined Accra Lions in 2021 from partner club Koowa Naso United FC at the age of 18. During his time with the Lions, he made 68 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, contributing one goal and one assist. His consistent performances earned him a reputation as one of the league’s top central midfielders and a call-up to the Ghana U23 national team.
Mohammed is expected to bring depth and quality to Club Africain’s midfield as they aim to compete for the Tunisian Ligue 1 title and secure a spot in the CAF Champions League for the 2025–26 season. His addition is seen as a significant boost to the club’s ambitions in the upcoming campaign.
