KRC Genk, the Belgian club, has officially declined an offer from Saudi Pro League team Al Wehda FC for the talents of Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.com.
The Saudi Arabian club submitted a formal bid of approximately €6 million in their pursuit to secure the services of the Black Stars winger. However, Genk promptly rejected the offer due to its failure to meet their valuation.
Al Wehda FC remains determined to acquire the Ghana international before the closure of the transfer window. It is anticipated that they will present an enhanced offer to both Genk and the Ghanaian attacker.
Paintsil played a pivotal role for the Blue-White team in the previous season, amassing a remarkable record of 18 goals and 14 assists across various competitions in 39 appearances.
Since his arrival at Genk from Ghanaian side Tema Youth FC in July 2018, Paintsil has impressively netted 32 goals and contributed 25 assists across 143 matches spanning all competitions.
He also enjoyed a productive loan period at MKE Ankaragucu in the Turkish top-flight during the 2020-21 season, finding the back of the net 11 times in 33 appearances.
English clubs Southampton and Leeds United have also expressed interest in securing the services of this prolific winger. In fact, Leeds United presented a €10 million offer on Friday, signifying that negotiations are currently at an advanced stage.
