Ghanaian winger Kwadwo Baah and Irish defender James Abankwah will soon begin work under a new manager at Watford following the resignation of head coach Javi Gracia.
Watford FC has confirmed that Javi Gracia has stepped down from his role with immediate effect. The club said it was sad and disappointed by his decision but respected his honesty. Although the club believed Gracia was the right man to lead their push for promotion, the coach felt he no longer had the motivation to continue working with the young squad.
Following his departure, Charlie Daniels, Dan Gosling, and Adrian Mariappa will take temporary charge of the team for the Championship match against Hull City on Tuesday night. Watford remain in a strong position in the league, sitting just four points outside the play-off places, with a game in hand and 17 matches still to play.
Kwadwo Baah and James Abankwah are expected to be part of the plans going forward as the club prepares to appoint a new manager. Watford believe the current squad has enough quality to challenge for promotion, and the new coach will aim to get the best out of players like Baah and Abankwah in the crucial weeks ahead.
Watford also thanked Javi Gracia and his coaching staff for their work during his two spells at the club and wished him and his family well for the future.
