Asante Kotoko produced a dominant performance to sweep aside Dreams FC 4-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, keeping their Ghana Premier League title hopes very much alive.

The emphatic win moves the Porcupine Warriors within just two points of league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with three matches remaining.

Head coach Abdul Karim Zito, who joined Kotoko from Dreams in April, masterminded a tactically astute performance against his former club, using his familiarity with their setup to devastating effect.

Albert Amoah set the tone for the afternoon with a composed close-range finish in the 17th minute. The hosts doubled their lead through Kwame Opoku, who finished off a swift counter-attack that started from a Dreams FC corner. Opoku later struck again with a superb lob over the onrushing goalkeeper, registering his second of the game and 10th goal of the season.

Dreams FC pulled one back early in the second half through Jonathan Nemorden, briefly threatening a comeback. However, Kotoko responded with assurance, and substitute Wisdom Fernando Bassey sealed the victory with a fourth goal in the closing stages.

The win puts Kotoko firmly in the title conversation ahead of their crunch clash with leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Meanwhile, Dreams FC, comfortably clear of relegation, will look to recover when they take on Berekum Chelsea next weekend.
