Ghana international Lawrence Agyekum made a big impact for Cercle Brugge on Sunday, scoring and providing an assist in the team’s 2-2 draw against K.V. Kortrijk in the Belgian Pro League.
The young midfielder, who has been an important part of his club’s squad, was thrilled to open his goal-scoring account for the season.
Agyekum started the match and played 83 minutes before making way for fellow Ghanaian Abu Francis. The game began on a tough note for Cercle Brugge as K.V. Kortrijk took the lead in the 14th minute through Bram Lagae. That goal was the difference between the two sides at halftime.
However, Agyekum stepped up in the second half to inspire a comeback. The 21-year-old found the back of the net in the 54th minute, leveling the score for his team. Later in the 80th minute, he provided an assist for Thibo Somers to put Cercle Brugge ahead. Unfortunately, a late equalizer from Abdelkahar Kadri denied Cercle Brugge all three points.
Despite the draw, Agyekum was delighted to score his first goal of the season after 28 league appearances. Expressing his excitement, he shared a message with fans: “First in green and black over the weekend! We go again another time!”
With his first goal now secured, Agyekum will be looking to build on this momentum and deliver more crucial performances for Cercle Brugge as the season progresses. His contributions continue to highlight his growing importance in the team, and fans will be eager to see more from him in the coming matches.
