Leicester City Football Club’s manager, Enzo Maresca, recently commended the performance of Ghanaian winger, Fatawu Issahaku, following The Foxes’ latest match in the Sky Bet English Championship.
A solitary goal by Jamie Vardy secured a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, ending Leicester’s three-game winless streak.
Issahaku, who featured for 86 minutes in the game, received accolades for his contributions. He successfully completed 15 out of 18 pass attempts, executed both of his dribble attempts, and emerged victorious in six out of nine ground duels during his time on the pitch. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed by Maresca, who praised his offensive prowess in the first half and also acknowledged his defensive capabilities.
Maresca’s positive appraisal of Issahaku’s performance could potentially enhance the Ghanaian winger’s prospects of securing a permanent deal with Leicester City. Currently on loan from Sporting Lisbon, Issahaku’s consistent displays are positioning him favorably for a longer stay with The Foxes.
With only 10 games remaining in the season, Leicester City leads the Championship table, edging closer to securing promotion to the English Premier League. This achievement would mark a significant turnaround for the club, having been relegated from the top flight at the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season.
