Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has conveyed his well wishes to the Black Stars ahead of their crucial match against the Central African Republic (CAR).
The four-time African champions are set to host CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium, marking the final Group E encounter in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Unfortunately, Paintsil, who joined the team’s camp on Monday, has been forced to withdraw from the squad due to an injury.
In anticipation of the game, the former Tema Youth FC winger took to social media to share a message of support with his teammates. In his post, Paintsil stated, “I want to wish my colleagues all the best in today’s highly significant match. Let’s go out there and make our nation proud. I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines. We’ve got this!
“We are Ghana.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
Under the leadership of Chris Hughton, Ghana’s national team currently leads Group E with nine points, one point ahead of Angola and two ahead of the Central African Republic. Madagascar occupies the bottom spot in the group with two points.
To secure their qualification for the tournament scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast next January, the Black Stars require at least a draw from this crucial match.
