Robert Lewandowski wants to swap Bayern Munich for Barcelona, as reported by ‘Sport’ this Thursday. The Pole allegedly wants one last big project before he retires.
According to the cited source, the footballer feels that his time at Bayern is nearing its end. He has been at the Bavarian club for eight seasons and he will end his long spell there this summer.
Lewandowski’s current contract runs until June 2023. He has spent a number of weeks negotiating a renewal deal but nothing yet has been agreed.
The Polish striker wants to end his 12 year Bundesliga career (four years at Dortmund, eight years at Bayern) and test himself in a new setting.
He believes that now is the perfect time to do it. He hopes that a change of scene will provide new motivation for a footballer who has already won it all at club level.
Lewandowski hopes that due to Barcelona’s worldwide reach, arriving at the club will boost his international popularity. This is something he has not quite managed to achieve in the Bundesliga, explains ‘Sport’.
The ball is now in Barcelona’s court who, in the case of not being able to bring Haaland’s services to the club, now have the option of signing the Bayern player.
