French Ligue 1 clubs RC Lens and RC Strasbourg Alsace are both reportedly keen on securing a loan deal for Ghanaian teenager Alex Matos from English Premier League giants Chelsea.
Matos, 19, impressed during his loan spell at EFL Championship side Huddersfield Town last season, catching the eye of several suitors. Both RC Lens and RC Strasbourg are now in the race to sign the talented midfielder, with the competition heating up as the summer transfer window progresses.
According to French outlet L’Équipe, Chelsea is leaning towards loaning Matos to RC Strasbourg Alsace, a club also under the BlueCo ownership group. However, the player himself is said to favor a potential move to RC Lens.
Currently part of Chelsea’s U21 squad, Matos has a contract with the Blues that runs until June 2026. Despite representing England at the U20 level, Matos remains eligible to play for Ghana on the international stage due to his heritage.
